Frequently Asked Questions

How do I put one of your widgets on my website?
Pick a Widget from our Widgets page. Enter your YouTube name, Email address and the URL of the page on your website where you intend to put the Widget. Click "Get Code" and you'll see the code you'll need to add to your page appear in the box. Open the code for your web page in a Text Editor (like Notepad on a PC), then copy and paste the code from the box into your web page document where you want the Widget to appear. Save your web page document and upload it to your server. CAUTION: You should save a back-up copy of your web page document Before You Edit It! If anything goes wrong, just put the saved copy back on your server.
Do your Widgets work on MySpace?
Most do not. According to MySpace, when editing your profile, "You may enter HTML/DHTML or CSS in any text field. Javascript is not allowed." Most of our widgets use Javascript.
NEW: We now have an image-based widget that works on MySpace (profile pages), Facebook (notes pages)! See our JPG Image Widget page for more information!
Could I put your Widget on my YouTube Profile?
No. You can't enter Javascript when editing your Personal Info. Our widgets use Javascript.
Coming soon: Picture-based widgets! Email Kenny for more info!
How do I change the look of your Widgets?
Put the Widget in a DIV and style that DIV. If the Widget code contains a SPAN, you can style that SPAN. Read this for more on styling with CSS.
Can I Email you for more Help on Widgets?
Yes! Please Email Kenny for Help.
The widget seems to take a few seconds to load on my page. Can you speed it up?
Yes! We have a new version of the widget that loads much quicker. Our Total Video Views widget comes in a few "flavors".  The one we provide on this site updates whenever someone visits your page.  Sometimes, YouTube is slow or inaccurate in its reporting of stats from its database, and the number is off for a while.  To guard against that, we have another version that just updates once a day.  And, it will never record a number that is less than the current count.  So, even if, on any given night when we grab the data from YouTube, the number is incorrect, we won't store it and the widget will continue to use the last correct data.

If you have a lot of videos, or find that your widget loads too slow, you should consider using this newer widget.  You can get the code by signing up for our YTStats service, it's free of course! :)

Here's the Login link:

http://www.bkserv.net/YTS/YTStatsLogin.aspx

Before you can Log in, you'll need to create an account on the Sign Up page, it only takes a minute and we don't ask for any personal data.  This is the Sign Up link:

http://www.bkserv.net/YTS/YTStatsSignUp.aspx

Once you get the activation email and you click the link to activate the account, sign in and you'll see the code for the new widget under the heading of "My Stats - Total Video Views of all my videos"

Add that code where your original Total Video Views code was, and you'll be back in business!

Please Email Kenny if you have any problems or questions!
Why does the widget show a lower number than the Video Views number I see on my YouTube MyAccount page?
Our widgets are not able to access the number of views on videos that you have set to Private. If you have Private videos, the numbers of views on those videos will not be included in the number you see in our Widgets.
Could you create a custom Widget for me?
Probably! Please Email Kenny and describe what you need.
How come there aren't more questions here?
Patience, grasshopper! We're working on it...
So you like that old Kung Fu TV show?
Nah, not really. But "Kung Fu Fighting" is a pretty good song to dance to at a party.
Okayyy... Speaking of songs, what's your favorite song?
"Liar Liar" by The Castaways. 60s Garage Rock is the best!
Never heard of it. Is it online anywhere?
Sure is! Right here. (Scroll down about 2/3 of the page, its in the table of MP3s. Enjoy, but beware: It's loud and will cause you to dance!)
Wait a minute, that sounds familiar! Someone sampled it in a rap song, right?
You are correct! A Dutch rap group called "the Opposites" sampled "Liar, Liar" in their 2007 hit single "Dom, Lomp & Famous". Read more about it and watch the video for both songs, here.
Hmm, do you have anything to do with www.GarageRockRadio.com?
Maybe....
